The fuel needs to be taxed directly or the people using the most won’t contribute the most to the externalities of burning that fuel. (Assuming the tax funds are directed that way.)

🍎 In effect, the tax would mean you are just perpetually renting something from the government. You already pay tax on items when you buy it. Property tax is already a tax on existing on the land. And vehicles require licensing fees.

Just because you own something doesn’t mean you actively use it. What happens if you don’t pay the tax? They take back the furnace, or the whole house? 🍎

That’s the face mine makes when she’s not had enough treats. Equal parts threat and pleading.

Thanks! It’s not perfect, but the best advice I ever got was, “It will never be perfect, you’ll always find things you want to change, there are just good places to stop.” That was when I was working on producing my album, but I think it applies to writing as well. 🤓
