There’s a lot of extreme horror that I love, but it can get pretty gross, graphic, and dark. So I would suggest working your way to up those, or not reading them if that’s not your thing.

I love anything by Simone St. James. She writes a lot of historical thriller/horror with a touch of spice in some of her novels. They are great for dipping your toe into horror.
Ania Ahlborn is one of my personal favorites. Her novel, Brother, is heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.
