Copenhagen Airport is currently closed with all outbound flights cancelled and all inbound flights diverted because of drone activity.

DR has a live blog, but since there’s no actual information, we’re getting useful headlines like: “No doubt about it, things are not as they usually are.”

The highlight of my day was walking through the park and a little girl looking at my dog and bursting into a fit of giggles. I mean, who could blame her?

Galgos del Sol is just one of many, many organizations working to protect these dogs from cruelty. But until then, they’re just treating a symptom.

Galgos just want to be around their people and sleep on a comfy sofa. They deserve all those things. #FreetheGalgo

Galgos make wonderful pets. They’re loyal, loving, and very silly. They sleep about 16 hours a day, and are unexpectedly great apartment dogs.

Animal welfare laws in Spain don’t apply to hunting dogs like galgos and podencos. There is no recourse for abusing, abandoning, or killing these dogs.

There is a very rural-urban divide over hunting dogs. Many galgos get rehomed in Spain, and a lot of people are working to change the laws.

It’s World Galgo Day and I want to share a little about how I got my beloved pointy dog.

February 1st marks the end of hunting season in Spain. This tends to coincide with large numbers of galgos being surrendered or abandoned. 1/

Christmas is when I make Lebanese-style baklava. I’m the only one in the family who learned from my aunt, so it’s an annual production with enough for everyone to take some home.

Through my friends with small children, I have learned that two members of the boy band McFly have written the children’s morality tale “The Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas.”

“He looks like a tiger,” said the man with the small dog who walked past us.

I honestly don’t know what he meant.

Orwell went as a skeleton for Halloween. Unless you’re an indie rock fan, in which case he went as Phoebe Bridgers.
