The writing is hard to make out in places, but the full translation is absolutely real. You can easily see, for example, the final three words "saccus est [v]acuus" - "[my] purse is empty"

Lots of historically relevant people do not have federal holidays celebrating them. We choose a very few to single out in that way. What are the criteria? What should they be? "Our world would not exist as we know it without them" is the lowest bar to clear, not the final one.
