A few strong institutions, including Harvard and Princeton, are in a position to fight back. At these places, it is possible to resist for maybe 5 years. If that resistance succeeds, it reduces the likelihood of the sabotage to U.S. strength to spread everywhere else.

70% of their endowment is completely restricted; their operating expenses are over $6 billion annually. $1 billion of that (ballpark) comes from federal grants.
