Kat Philbin (kAt Philbin). Contemporary American. I’d had the first image,“The Bad Luck Gang” as a wallpaper for ages, and am now finding more of her lovely work.

I'll be here 'Lawless' Bristol, end of May - 24th/25th. Pop along. The last time I did a con in Bristol I saw stromtroopers directing traffic. Although I imagine it's more likely to be Judge Dredd at this one. Or you know... traffic wardens. (There's a spin-off in there somewhere...)

'The Fates', by Rosie Garland, is getting a French translation from Sabran Editions. This looks spectacular, with sprayed edges and some gorgeous embossing. It's a wonderful story (I'm completely unbiased - of course!) @rosiegarlandwriter.bsky.social

'Sphynxe' by Joseph Urban (1872 - 1933). Vienna born Urban was one of the originators of 'Art Deco', a set designer, architect and illustrator. Alongside architect Marion Sims Wyeth, one of his surviving designs is Mar a Lago (yep, that Mar a Lago), designed for Marjorie Merriweather-Post C-1924

Panel from the next book. Quite early in the story. Vanessa has just fallen over, and picked herself up. Absolute chaos! I mean who needs punching?

Ah, optimistic sci-fi... This scene from Edge of Darkness always resonated with me, when the bad guy, (a corporate 'leader') Jerry Grogan is giving a speech at a Nato conference on the 'high-frontier'. This feels prescient, once the absurd hyperbole of the baddies, now feels like a raison d'etre.

Ha ha! I like my old cars. And here's one in Tintin: The Calculus Affair.

A face from 'the book' I was fairly pleased with.

Lots of new followers?! I've hardly got anything here, so thank you so much! I suppose I had better show a bit more then... These are angled screengrabs from my Cintiq - The current page I'm working on - no text or nuffink, that's later, and an earlier one. 32 pages in, and lots to do...

Good grief! Lots of new followers! Thank you so much! How did that happen? Anyway, 'Rainbow Cat' by Moebius says 'miaow', which loosely translates as 'feed me'.

Well, might as well post then! I've been a bit slow working on 'To the Waters and the Wild' -- the 'next book'. Health got in the way, but I'm starting to pick up again. Some screengrabs of random pages, a couple have been shown elsewhere. Thank you!

Intro: in case you're discovering me for the first time here, I've been around a while. Once traditional animator, concept artist and illustrator, I now write and draw my own comics/GNs which makes me happy. These published two are part of the series I'm currently making, the third is in progress.

Time to start being more present here! I'm writing the next book at the mo, the third after A Trick of the Light and The Kissing Gate, but here's an old drawing from 'before' times. I don't think I got a full scan of this and I no longer have it. There were two pencil versions and a digital one.

And off we go - seems nice here! This is the art for one of the postcards that were included as an extra for 'The Kissing Gate' Kickstarter: Alice and 'the cat'. This background was referenced from an old family photograph.
