Planetary nebula Sh2-216. Made from 120, 5min exposures with SHO filters. A planetary nebula is the debris thrown off a former red giant star glowing from the intense radiation emitted from its the remaining white dwarf. At 390 LY, it is the closest planetary nebula to Earth. #astrophotography

Thinking about her

Tigers are auspicious in Japan, but they aren’t native. Inspired by Chinese scrolls and legends, traditional Japanese artists who’d never seen tigers used imagination to design “tigers”. Based on that, a young girl paints stripes onto a scowling beast surrounded by whimsically designed tigers(?).
