Had a great time at the #sandpiper toolchain launch workshop, with bonus of being back visiting the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory ~9yrs since when I worked there!

Work led by Alice Puppin shows that tidal-channel abandonment (due to stream captures or meander cutoff) leads to rapid C accumulation.

In a recent work led by Alice Puppin & others, we observed accretion rates in abandoned tidal channels @ Venice lagoon are 1 order of magnitude higher than in the surrounding areas, making them hotspots for rapid blue carbon accumulation in coastal wetlands.
