One year later, this collection still stuns.

“We have two sides and two sides only: that of the *potheads* and that of the *tietwats*. I, who have had my stay with both, wish to call attention to a true middle position.”

Was being a ditz last night and neglected to congratulate you on the new book—but I did buy, as this handle suggests, this handsome edition of Kalivas!

The Adventures of Lady Egeria, W.C., Empyrean Series. Outstanding. Elizabethan atrocity exhibition written in 1585 but drinking perfectly in 2025, when it all makes sense. Even its patchiness reads naturally in our glitchy contemporary. “Extremities unjustly happening.”

Back in the Bay and at Books Inc. Alameda this Thursday night (October 23), 6:30pm.

Talking Daydreamers, California, and Taiwan with the great Shawna Yang Ryan, with whom I had this earlier (quoted) enlightened conversation at taiwaneseamerican.org.

Nice evening to drift around North Beach and Chinatown and drop by @citylightsbooks.bsky.social, where copies of Daydreamers are on the shelf.

Had such a good conversation about Mice 1961, Daydreamers, and other weird stuff with Stacey Levine in Seattle that we decided to keep it going in San Francisco at @citylightsbooks.bsky.social.

My very West Coast “tour”, as it were.

Hey Seattle is TONIGHT 7pm @ Elliott Bay Book Co.

Given the book’s subject matter, SoCal should be happening, but no dice, so far.

Will fate conspire to bring me to Nashville? Tuscaloosa?

Been waiting on this one. Thought it’d be slim but it’s a little brick. @sublunary.bsky.social

Recently received. Plastic Soul by James Nulick is sensational, so far.

I'll be online-reading with @alinaetc.bsky.social (author of pink book in center) this Sunday August 3 (2pm Pacific / 5pm Eastern). Sign up and we'll send the video link a few days before the event:

Recent arrivals. Yellow Dusk by @rosenovick.com and Maintenance Art by Grant Maierhofer are new releases from @sublunary.bsky.social, with the latter arriving in the mail just as I was jabbering online with the author about Samuel Delany's lozenges. Age of Blight by Kristine Ong Muslim is terrific.

Latest issue of @yourimpossiblevoice.com arrived. (Yes, there is a corporeal version.)

First-time editing a journal (prose), got lucky with stellar submissions and ridiculously good final list of contributors.

Last shot is from Steve Barbaro's oceanic Temperance of Heretics.

Daydreamers is out in the world now.

"A story of immigration, brilliantly inflected with undercurrents both noir and comic.” —Susan Daitch

"Daydreamers kind of sinks in slowly. Then it becomes absorbing in a way that doesn't let up." —Stacey Levine
