There's an unfortunately large group that only did the initial ending and wrote the game off, but the game is extremely back-heavy and it's so rewarding to get through!

The game's not just a scary horror game, rather it plays with the idea that nothing is scarier than real life

And I mean, it makes sense, those are the only projects that have the million dollars required to pay for ad space in the awards show.

Also extra hilarious how the indie award receiver was a "indie" game with, clearly, 2021-era infinite money funding and talent behind it.

I think this is the correct choice! It's far better to double down on the things that you like to make in the niche, than it is trying to broaden the appeal of an already niche project.

Non-tank control games come out every day, but the same can't be said for tank control games.

Great post! I think it’s a struggle to balance making money vs making something truly yours, specially in financially tough times or countries.

Some would kill (inconvenience others) to make money making games, but others would die (willingly give up their own convenience) to truly be creative.

if you're running both then keep some way to re-do your boot loader configuration! At any time (last time was august last year but it's happened a lot) Windows will update and delete it and it's super annoying. God I wish I could leave windows it's awful

The game’s horror is also very unique, almost never resorting to jumpscares and often teasing the scare before it happens, but making the actual scare more gruesome, shameful or horrible than you could have anticipated.

Like the paintings before her ritual, or the fog monster’s arm.

How Hinako sees the world and people around her is painted in such a colorful and efficient way in her journal. She isn’t a wordy person, often her descriptions and updates are 2 sentences long at most, but they are more than enough to characterize her, other characters and progress the narrative.

That all being said, however, each act transition would make me completely forget my frustration and I would be completely be captured by the game’s symbolism, the themes, the message. It’s so extremely interesting and harrowing in such a unique way.

The best moments in combat in this game are the boss fights, and the narrow hallways with enemies you have to run past. Those are great because it greatly rewards you for timing in stressful situations!

But some enemies have unreadable animations as their gimmick and it’s kind of lame.

The combat is weird, a lot of love went into it, and it feels very satisfying early in the game: keep your distance and either attack or dodge.

but in the lategame it doesn’t feel concerned for being fair, it just wants to overwhelm you, and removes your ability to run away.
