So I guess with all that, I knew the attempted brainwashing was completely wrong.
I'm very fortunate in that regard, but that still doesn't mean I wasn't bullied relentlessly growing up for being "weird".

No, and I was raised and educated in the Catholic Church and school.
At a young age, I knew something was up when the Church's beliefs didn't always line up with Christ's teachings.
And my mom is an ally & has always said that everyone deserves to be happy as themselves with whoever they choose.
