That’s how it looks. After June 30, 2026, there won’t be anymore National PBS programming on the airwaves in Arkansas. And with so much content already being sold off to Netflix, Amazon, and the like, expect Passport to either be disabled, or stripped of all national programming as well.

The name change from Arkansas PBS to Arkansas TV came straight from the Governor’s office and is rooted in their plans to strip educational programming from publicly accessed television. Due to disaffiliation, programming that enriches all ages will leave the station.

Because national PBS has decided to not lower or waive annual dues for any affiliates (CPB funding was cut this summer directly removing over $2m annually to Arkansas PBS), some affiliates who have had plans to take educational programming off air, have taken this moment to strike.

Arkansas PBS will become the largest (so far) PBS affiliate in the country to disaffiliate. This is a move that is unwanted by the public that has supported public television for decades.

The Arkansas PBS Commission has to provide 180 day notice to national PBS, so the programming will continue through to June 30, 2026. However, as of July 1, 2026, PBS programming will be off the air in Arkansas.

Not only is this a name change, but the plan is also for the Arkansas

More coddling to the Trump regime. As of today, we have worked with our sources and know that there are other states with this kind of action in mind. It is vital that this template from Alabama does not continue. If it goes through, then all of that funding that WE all have will go towards state TV
