A library worker from my community was taken by immigration officials. My library responded by creating a whistle kit assembly line. We made over 700 in an hour.

I’m pretty much always stoked on libraries but it’s programs like these that get me right in the feels. This is what a community library looks like when it meets the moment.

The Birkenhead Drill dates back to the 18th century. In an emergency, save women and children first. Instead, the building’s on fire and we’re all inside. As with everything else, the opposite of what should happen, is happening. At what point do we stop sleeping and take the streets en masse?
How many children has ICE taken in 2025…and where are they? 25,000 children taken from their families by ICE in 2025 so far… 1,000 kids under the age of 3 & put in ICE facilities so far… Tens of thousands of kids still unaccounted for in the system lost, unmonitored, or given to unknown sponsors!?!

With Granny’s passing yesterday and what would be my dad’s 71st birthday tomorrow, I’m reflecting on what was and what could have been. I loved these people. Didn’t get to spend nearly as much time with them as I wanted. They were both makers. Granny loved textiles, Dad loved carpentry…and fishing!

A light has gone out.

As a librarian, I just want to say, and I understand the irony of it all…the internet was a bad idea.

Are these hobbits!?! I’m tuned in and as present as ever, but we all deserve a timeline cleanse. I think there’s about 10 of these little doods in my backyard. Last week I saw them in a bunch rolling all over each other but didn’t have my phone on me so that was an experience just for me.

Interesting development across the pond.
Real change is coming. One year on from the election, this Labour government has refused to deliver the change people expected and deserved. Poverty, inequality and war are not inevitable. Our country needs to change direction, now. Congratulations to Zarah Sultana on her principled decision to leave the Labour Party. I am delighted that she will help us build a real alternative. The democratic foundations of a new kind of political party will soon take shape. Discussions are ongoing - and I am excited to work alongside all communities to fight for the future people deserve. Together, we can create something that is desperately missing from our broken political system: hope. Jeremy Corbyn MP for Islington North Today, after 14 years, I'm resigning from the Labour Party. Jeremy Corbyn and I will co-lead the founding of a new party, with other Independent MPs, campaigners and activists across the country. Westminster is broken but the real crisis is deeper. Just 50 families now own more wealth than half the UK population. Poverty is growing, inequality is obscene and the two-party system offers nothing but managed decline and broken promises. A year ago, I was suspended by the Labour Party for voting to abolish the two-child benefit cap and lift 400,000 children out of poverty. I'd do it again. I voted against scrapping winter fuel payments for pensioners. I'd do it again. Now, the government wants to make disabled people suffer; they just can't decide how much. Meanwhile, a billionaire-backed grifter is leading the polls, because Labour has completely failed to improve people's lives. And across the political establishment, from Farage to Starmer, they smear people of conscience trying to stop a genocide in Gaza as terrorists. But the truth is clear: this government is an active participant in genocide. And the British people oppose it. We are not going to take this anymore. We're not an island of strangers; we're an island that's suffering. We need homes and lives we can actually afford, not rip-off bills we pay every month to a tiny elite bathing in cash. We need our money spent on public services, not forever wars. In 2029, the choice will be stark: socialism or barbarism. Billionaires already have three parties fighting for them. The only 7/4 movie to watch is obviously the cult classic, Return of the Living Dead. Stream it for free on Hoopla with your public library card!

Starting my day out seeing this dood every morning has been good for my mental health.
