38-y-o boy, trying to chill enough to figure out who I am.
And thus my sick feeling at hearing RW cable-news-opinion voices utter crude questions like whether we can cut off SNAP recipients at 300 lbs or so... End result of which would be a whole lot messier than they think.

Oh to wish it were that simple, but my overweight poor friends need their $$$ too.

My own community college had a small refreshment stand that would drop these kinda leftovers around when it shut down in the evening. Some of us took to studying nearby and quietly picking ourselves a snack when that hour rolled around. 🥐

I lamented when it got phased out in favor of a Starbucks.

Clarity always dearly appreciated. No better a night than this to talk about/with that which died and still has a voice.

I only hope to learn how to save future passionate, creative souls from this fate... =/

Seriously, I'm so bad at naming faces I wonder if I'm mildly face-blind, yet I had one look at that *beard* in the crowded Anthrocon hallway and I knew I had to shake your hand. Eye-catchingly good in artstyle and RL.

Indeed not, and since clinging to hope is kinda my thing, I whipped this up in a morning frenzy of preparation, after listening at work to a very encouraging book on likely long-term outcomes. Gotta spread the courage. #NoKings

All the more reason I'm going to check on the mass protests in person tomorrow. Just a smaller branch (not the big city), but that's where I can meet up with a friend, and feel safer there.

Yeah I kinda had to try VR to realize what it means to me. Would take even longer to grasp if you haven't had much positive experiences around physical closeness—though to some this can be the ultimate 'safe zone' for trying.

In any case yeah, would love to see in action.

Seriously makes sense, that general idea; people SHOULD know the value of a good USPS service to rural folk, and of food stamps to the struggling. And there's a whole lot of commonality between the two, especially now. Countless private businesses have already done the first step since 2020.

A prominent eccentric artist back in Second Life oft spoke of his "gladdictions": the obsessions he got hooked on enjoying for long stretches. Love that guy.

Similar reason why parody articles like this keep circling back around, haheh... theshovel.com.au/2020/06/04/n... [The good kind of fake news can be the truest of all.]

An embarrassed National Rifle Association says it totally forgot to do the one thing it has been saying for years it is solely there to do.

90s? Sounds like the rise of Newt — a man whose obsession with wild beasts sadly became a love of 'law of the jungle' and promoting viciousness as 'natural'. I lament how we progressively lost our sense of compromise and shared values ever since embracing his all-out war for power and partisan wins.

More precisely, Loona the hellhound from the Helluva Boss storyline (shared canon with Hazbin Hotel).

I always think in these moments—what would the modern iteration be on "Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you cry alone." You can add fapping and juicy outrage to laughter, but cries for specific, thoughtful help are uh... not what Tweet-style sites, nor their crowds, know how to amplify.

As always, thank you for the dose of perspective, on a day that took 5 hours to drag me from 'awake and wanting to do laundry' to starting the laundry. My problems might be fixable with stable sleep and/or stronger ginseng tea.

Between the two of them, that's one gay baby... specifically Enola Gay.

Thanks, I'll uh, watch closely while I make my otherwise hurried grocery stop soon >.> Just in case. Rushing things out as usual...

Reminds me a smidge of one of the problems during the displaced doldrums of my late 20s. The few times I had a project with friends, my energy toward it was dependent on a serious sense that the others had energy towards it as well. When that sank, it felt like, what am I working toward again?

Ah, don't think I made it out until 2:40am my time, good to know.

Dang I was taking a break in my car when it happened but forgot to look up. Oh well, I've enjoyed many others.

Captchas getting really eccentric and desperate now I guess. Clearly it's the lizard, but took a sec to make sense. Perhaps they were inspired by the fact that a lot of a.i. these days are bad at counting... 🦋🦋

I wouldn't know either, but my scrolling & viewing says he was indirectly mocked in the sorta Prime-Time-friendly sly way that he might not have noticed. Killing DEI? Bring an all-black cast. Hire Uncle-Sam L Jackson to pretend to criticize him for being "too ghetto".
🍊 left early, reasons unknown.

Oh just the 3rd part of this Daily Show clip: youtu.be/B2oa2IpKgn8?... (But don't care as much for Al Madrigal's comedy end-bit starting @5:30, even tho yes, “🇺🇸 doesn't have an immigration policy, 🇺🇸 has immigration reactions.”)
