When I see a film character make a speech I understand that he is not a little guy in a box thining that (and not even created as an author's direct mouthpiece, but by a vague collective "them", by the studio in general).

As someone who watched anime in the late 2000s and got back into it recently, most stories don't seem to handle women much worse at all than they used to to say the least, there is cool stuff like Apothecary Diaries, G-Witch, lots of girl-friendgroup fluff without any overt leering, etc.
