Tidal could be great, but keep in mind that it's not 24/7 since the tides have very prominent ebbs and flows, so there are two times a day (not quite) when it hits zero. OTOH it is extremely predictable & independent of solar/wind.

True we can't consume, store or transport all that's made at certain times. For solar those are midday in a very few locations…which also use fossil fuel during the rest of the day. For wind it's mainly a grid problem.

Yes, batteries are needed for storing solar & we need to shift consumption, too.

fix the grid or shift demand. The latter is what Oz is trying to do with the free 3 hr of electricity during midday. But they still burn a lot of coal, so—to repeat—there's no excess.

It'd also be a big investment to make (costly) green H from what will soon be needed (direct) electricity.

There is no excess electricity, from solar or otherwise. Pretty much everyone burns fossil fuels to some degree & we haven't even fully electrified.

There is inadequate grid support & demand, which leads to curtailment midday in places like Australia. The solution isn't make hydrogen w/it, but...

Where to start?

There is such a thing as recycling.

Also HFCs typically have batteries in them, like the Mirai.

EVs have no emissions.

Where do,you honk hydrogen comes from?
