Cage of Souls. I think there’s a line toward the end to this effect but it very much feels like a side story to a bigger plot you don’t get to fully see. Realized halfway through that I read The Doomed City by the same author years ago. Great books. I thoroughly enjoy this author’s style it seems.

My yearly weekend retreat in the woods to keep the ever looming cloud of apathy at bay. Nice to break away from my usual routines. Having a single bar of signal every now and then is a bonus.

Wearing a wrist/hand brace for a few days has made me realize that I love the look of these things. Surely I shouldn’t buy some of those gloves that only cover the wrist and base of the hand. Unless… No, I shan’t.

Back at my place, fires are supposedly safe and controlled. Still have everything packed by the door till I know for sure though. Whole building is done for, nobody died thankfully but nothing is salvageable.

At my parents with the cat. Forced us to evacuate but are “optimistic” it won’t jump the few dozen feet to our building.
