Does anyone know how to force GMaps to treat me like a grown up and cross the road where I like? Driving directions are 0.4 miles, if I want to walk it routes me via a pelican crossing which is 0.7 miles. This is going to put people off walking if it looks too far.

Apparently to track my parcel, I have to declare that gulls can fit in a nest box! @royalmailofficial.bsky.social really have the worst captchas.

With apologies to Patrick Kavanaugh, the stony brown soil of Lincolnshire. The top 10cm is bone dry.

Deepest Lincolnshire. They build these roads and no-one uses them.

Looking for my rental car in a Colorado parking lot. There it is!
This was 6 years ago, the other cars have grown since then.

Not always, it depends how far around you're going. This for instance, would be improved enormously by a protected route from Fallowfield to Belle Vue. Especially this bridge maps.app.goo.gl/th5VQ4R6DP5H...

The outer-inner ring road.
The green bit is built, the red-dotted down Seymour Grove planned. Actually, some of this is already there on the east side but I don't know the area well enough to mark it.

Almost an occultation seen from Manchester

Yup, even in my 50s I can get to the office that quickly, uphill to boot. On my eBike, it's even quicker. And it's fun!

A visually-impaired person using a cane to help their route-finding. See how it's done at the Royce Road Cyclops, for instance. There are upstanding kerbs defining the route between areas of tactile paving.

One old and one new bridge?

I've just dismantled an old one of these that stopped working. After cleaning the obvious water damage from the PCB with isopropyl, it appears to be charging again. That IP rating is not equal to the challenge of Manchester rain.

They're going to send it by barge?

In Manchester, we don't need that guy who spray paints a cock and balls around potholes.

Tell me you've never used a map, without saying you've never used a map.

Definitely illegal:
-the tread extends beyond the bodywork
-no mudflaps

Spilman Street, no less

Here are my choices for the journey to the office. Bike on the left, car on the right. There are about twice the number of turns by bike, but that's partly because I've optimised the heck out of the route to reduce distance and stay on quieter roads where possible.
