Automatic Noodle by Annalee Newitz
This was a short fun read, great mix of technology and cooking. Reminded me a bit of Sourdough by Robin Sloan. My only issue is with the final part, I felt it a bit rushed.

Mission accomplished
'The Spear Cuts through Water' by Simon Jimenez gets all the stars and more. Amazing book.

I was down with a nasty cold for almost a week. I'm finally recovering.

I had to pause my latest read (Spear Cuts Through Water) because I couldn't keep focused to follow it, so I switched to my cozy TBR pile and started Witch Hat Atelier. The art is gorgeous!

My current read has been going slow. I’m taking long pauses because it’s nice to find something so beautifully written and so rich in language. I’m enjoying this a lot.

Spent a couple hours reading this today, A Magical Girl Retires. It’s ok, didn’t meet my expectations, but it’s a solid 3/5⭐️

It leans more on the millennial issues with society, work, credit card debt, and existential crisis than on the magical girl side of the story.

It's time to go back to the Dungeon Crawler Carl Series. Currently on book 5

This is a short and mostly interesting read.
It captures a way of life that arises from the context of the times and the pervasiveness of social media, it doesn’t offer much in the way of insights, but it does portray some shared experiences (digital creatives or expats) really well.

4.x/5 I'm still pondering what I didn't like about it, but overall it's really good. It's a YA novel that mixes psychological thriller, dark academia, and botanical horror.
I think the YA might be my issue with it, angsty teens isn't something that resonates with me anymore.

This is my best read of the year so far. A technothriller where most governments are run by AI except the Republic whose leader is a totalitarian president who downloads his consciousness to a new body when the previous one fails.

It's captivating and very timely considering the state of the world.

Had to go back to Ryza since I couldn’t stop thinking about materials and crafts and this happened.

This book put me in a down mood. It's a story that goes into that space where tragedies keep piling on until we arrive at a cathartic end, but in the context of the late 80s HIV/AIDS impacted gay community. I would really like for gay stories to divert from drama and tragedy.

Had a good reading day. Finished Vol.1 of the Apothecary Diaries light novel.
It adds bits of additional description and lore, but it’s the same as the anime so far. It covers up to S1 E12.
