Imagine trying to pass a budget bill under direct democracy. You'd have to get hundreds of millions of people to agree on a budget. That's not happening. We need a smaller group to handle the details like that with the option to, at any time, say "you're doing this poorly, let's try someone else"

Yeah there needs to be a way for the people to directly call a vote in the middle of a term in case someone gets it in their head to go dictatorial.

While 100% true for EVs, with gas cars, it's only true within a single gear range since your mileage is based more off of how fast your engine is spinning than the speed of the car. So cruising in 5th at 65mph is going to see better gas mileage than going 30 in 2nd gear and redlining it
