So sooner or later, it has to sell ad space, or be acquired by persons willing to spend money to keep it going, to whatever ends they have in mind, or be crowd funded, likely with wealthy major sponsors who will have influence on how it is run.

But Bsky is 1) Not making money, and 2) Owned by Jay Graber. Sooner or later it needs to make money, if for no other reason than to sustain its operation.
