Yeah I have extended family in Carroll County. Many of them are miserable, but they make a point of pretending otherwise "to own the libs," as it were.
Ironically, the ones who are internally/spiritually(?) happy are the ones who acknowledge reality, even w all the badness it brings. Human nature 🤷♀️

I know this might sound like it contradicts what I said above, but the problem isn't that there aren't good things in red areas, it's the systems that we have to fight against to get and keep those good things.

Yeah. And it can't just go without saying - even these "red" places are way more purple than people on either side want to admit.

Yeah, I block these types. We're trying to warn the whole world about the things these people are getting up to in their countries, after practicing on us, and they yell at us lol. Not worth the time.

And yes - I have really wondered how much of this dynamic is being pushed by bad actors, either from our more "traditional" cyber bad guys (Russia, China, Iran) or from our own internal bad guys. But it's frustrating and sad.

Especially something as insane as going to war with NATO! Especially when so many of us have deep, immediate (1- or 2-generation) ties to NATO countries! Fucking idiocy.

Yeah, the figures I've seen for Greenland are ~ like 7% approve, which is a weird survey number. A number that low likely means at least half the people who said they support military action in Greenland didn't understand the question, and/or were dishonest in their answer. So basically 0% lol

It's possible this is one of the disconnects where people not in the US struggle to understand how common and normalized police brutality is here, now and historically. At many protests, people are very much outnumbered by militarized police. Maybe it shouldn't, but it does have a chilling effect.

I believe most of us here think they are going to follow every order, legal or not, which would mean things get very messy here. I mean - not that it isn't *our* problem!

I replied to another comment, but troops overseas still soak in FOX and OAN all day, and are still ~60/40 Trump fans. I don't know. I hope you're right? But even if you are right, I'm not sure *he* would think they'd be European-ized enough to refuse his orders? 🤷♀️ Hope we don't have to find out lol
