Yeah I could see that but as someone who started with the purely text based menus I guess I don't think of the ds era menu design as specifically the pokemon aesthetic.

Yeah I'm guessing a lot of those design decisions came out of the fact that battles take place in the overworld so you don't know where exactly pokemon will be placed in relation to each other. So they tried to take up as little screen space as possible and made the UI elements minimalist and clear.

This is a specific type of battle called a raid battle where it's 4 players versus a stronger boss pokemon. That may explain some of the elements you find weird

I'm guessing some GenAI bs machine given the larian revelations from today. That at some point WOTC will reveal jAIce and now you can type in any character and it'll design a magic card you can pay 30 dollars for and that'll be the end of it.

Dan treating Ray of Frost like some epic spell that was going to shred the baddies was so funny. I swear half of the times he cast it he delivered a monologue first before hoarsely yelling out the spell. Good stuff, you'll never see a more honest actual play pod again for better and worse.

For Harmontown it was more like everybody was way too drunk to think beyond their catchphrase. Also this was pf1e/3.5 so it's not like these were lower dpr options that got the job done. You were largely supposed to be doing other things at least by level 5 if not earlier.

I don't even know what the one model thing would imply. It's not like it could have been stamped from a die. They still would have needed to make the model by hand and probably break it up and then reassemble it anyway. And it doesn't enforce some max level of detail like the post implies.

We definitely had some units focused on state history but I get the feeling Texas was on a different level. Not sure I could tell you that much about my state's history tbh.

Does Magic Story and worldbuilding need to be less interconnected or have they just stumbled consistently on a good idea? EoE being disconnected almost entirely and being well received vs the year of hat sets focusing on the Omenpaths makes me wonder.

I don't know about listing no schemes/planes as something missing. Seems weird to present them alongside things that used to be in every set and were dropped.

Good point, like while researching this I learned the popularity of depicting them as anthropomorphic is fairly new. And that shift was mainly brought about by film.
