But in the 2020’s, other studios have stepped up their game and made more appealing blockbusters that can compete for Oscars: Dune, Top Gun 2, EEAAO, Barbenheimer, Wicked, and Sinners all feel like better versions of the films was Disney was making, and Gen Z wants validation in their big movies.

I also think Disney got away with Marvel and Star Wars in the 2010’s because those were generally better films than their big-budget competition. Both were preferable to Transformers, F&F, Jurassic World, and most of the DCEU.
