We argue that female song doesn't function either for intrasexual competition or territory defense. Although females reacted aggressively to female intruders, their song rate was the lowest in response to them. Moreover, unlike male song, female song was not associated with aggression.

We found that female aggression and singing in territory defense were mostly restricted to the non-breeding season.

Our latest research on Galápagos yellow warblers is out!

We investigated how male yellow warblers adjust their behavior in response to traffic noise during simulated territorial intrusions.
