This brings back so many memories, TA kingdoms was the first game I ever played. I was 4 at the time and so was too small to sit on the chair so I would sit on my dad's lap to be tall enough to reach the keyboard while he taught me how to play and gave me advice. That's my earliest childhood memory.

I knew that South Korea was involved but not much else because my Australian history class talked about the Vietnam war from the perspective of "We were one of the idiots who let themselves get dragged into America's bullshit, these were the other idiots who got involved as well".

I wish we could have a 40k style expanded universe based on the Zephon setting, the worldbuilding is just so good. I would kill for an RPG or survival horror game in this universe. Hell a MENACE style TBS game where you command a company of soldiers fighting the Acrin and Zephon would be awesome.

"Ever listened in on a sniper-spotter team at work? It's so clinical...until it isn't. "Go to sector 3 delta." "Contact." "5 degrees off the oozing pile of meat." "Contact." "Target has four limbs and an arm hanging out of its mouth. Confirm?" "That's-fuck. Fuck...yeah, that's your target. Confirm."

The unit descriptions are some of the most effective horror I've ever read. It perfectly gets across this feeling of disgusted resignation at all the atrocities and monstrosities being unleashed in order to win the war. My personal fav is the description for the sharpshooters.

Theres a reason why both cults and gangs make recruits carry out extreme acts as a rite of passage. The sunk cost fallacy is strong enough when its just monetary, a moral investment in a cause is way harder to walk away from.

The whole plot of warfront feels like an attempt by the devs to give players the ability to play as wolfenstein germany without feeling like a villian that ended up being more uncomfortable then if they just had you play a straight up wolfenstein villian.

The funniest joke made in the youtube comments section was someone wondering that since the main soviet character is a women would a soviet campaign had the MC be a lesbian version of Lynch.

I've been on NDIS for a few years now and while I get enough money for my current circumstances the spending restrictions are so tight that I can't actually use the money I've been given for the things I need and every promise I've been given by the NDIA to fix it has been broken. This shit sucks.

My only objection is that umgak literally means "human made" and theres nothing human about tech companies and there products. Umgak is too nice a term.

Merrill made me realise I have a type, and that type is sweet adorkable elf witchs that can and will punch you in your soul with cosmic horrors beyond your comprehension.

I think people forget that she got into the Maga movement through Qanon. Fighting a cabal of pedophiles that are running the government was literally what she signed up for. The only thing that is different is that the pedophiles are Christian Conservatives instead of Satanic Progressives.

Best payoff for that joke is when Cain returns from his latest suicide mission and wonders why the ceiling is full of holes.

I actually knew a teacher in school that would use a similar technique to silence his classroom, but he would use a cap gun instead of a real gun, worked pretty well.

The ciaphas cain novels actually had a joke in caves of ice where the local clerk who was writing the minutes for a war council meeting spent the whole meeting describing how hot Regina Kasteen (the female colonel of the Valhallan 597th) was. Can't really blame him man's got good taste.

Fair enough, I guess I have a weird respect for his service because when it came out that the US military was waterboarding prisoners during GWOT Jesse went on cable news to say he was waterboarded as part of his SERE training and that it was a atrocity that should not committed against anyone.
November 19, 2025 at 10:25 AM
Yeah but of all the lies you could tell about your military service thats probably the tamest. Its not like doing underwater demolition work while under enemy fire is somehow less badass then being a navy seal.
November 19, 2025 at 8:14 AM
Honestly "I was apart of the orgnaisation that became the navy seals and did their training" is close enough to being a navy seal that I'm not going to fault jesse for claiming to be a navy seal. Your just splitting hairs at that point.

That's pretty much just the millennium falcon.

The trailer for mars tactics literally says that the conflict is a fight between labour and capital with labour fighting for their rights and capital fighting for their shareholders.
November 14, 2025 at 8:15 AM
Theres a new game coming out called mars tactics which is basically XCOM meets red faction about a labour union uprising uprising on a mars colony. While you can play either side the content reavealed so far makes it very clear that the union workers are the good guys fighting for their rights.

The Roy's do seem like the kind of family that is pretentious enough to deliberately use vintage tech because they think it's more refined and fancier then VHS.

It's so funny that Robert just demolishes Shrouds IRL metagaming by just handing him a coin toss and going: "I don't know wtf I'm doing so you can't either good luck fucker!"

He basically weaponized the saying: never argue with an idiot they will bring you down to their level and beat you with exp
November 13, 2025 at 8:52 AM
Its made so much better by the fact that it ties directly into the gameplay itself: Robert has spent the entire game improvising and rolling the dice while hoping for the best meanwhile Shroud has been an in universe metagamer and so has no clue what to do when Robert puts him on the spot.

It's pretty funny how much of WH40K lore can be summed up with "a Libertarian Tech Bro got everything he wanted and now its everyone's problem".
