(For context, my sister pays over double in rent what I do in mortgage, has massive maintenance issues, isn’t allowed pets & has regular rent increases every year. Is currently paying over 1/2 her weekly income in rent - hard when you have custody of your 2 grandbabies😬😬😬🫣)

… deal with is giving up their pets to get into a house. Rentals are so hard to get into at the moment that having a pet is a huge barrier - a lot of agencies will not even put you on their books if you have a pet b/c landlords that take them are so rare, & that’s not counting the price of rent.

Here a huge problem my whanau have dealt with is even finding a property that will allow animals at all. Fish & small caged animals are typically ok, but if it is a cat or dog good luck! Am extremely grateful to own my house so can have as many as I want. I know families who have had to…
