Labour MP for Birkenhead, Minister of State for Local Government and homelessness.

#anorthernwoman
Spent a couple of hours today with representatives of faith communities in my patch. We talked about being together, intergenerational relationships, public spaces, jobs, homes, food, music and giving everyone a sense of hope. Time well spent and more working together to come.

Proud of our diverse country.

And all the people working hard to overturn 14 years of Tory misrule, whatever their background.

Second red box.

This time, as minister for local government and homelessness. So much to do to rebalance our economy and make sure there are no more forgotten places, no more forgotten people.

With my mug from my time as a member of the best London borough, Southwark 💜

A good debate in Manchester, despite a cough that doesn't seem to want to end and being introduced as an Anfield season ticket holder.

Heartbroken today. For Diogo and Andre's family, the children, and all who loved them, everyone's heart is in pieces. I am so sorry for those closest to them who will bear the grief.

A group of us gathered at the Hillsborough Memorial in Port Sunlight. We listened as the names of 97 precious loved ones were read out. They were all someone's child. Many were someone's parent. They are all still loved and will never be forgotten.

At the keel laying for the new Mersey Ferry being built at Birkenhead's Cammell Laird shipyard.

Hamilton Square, Birkenhead earlier. James Gillespie Graham (of Edinburgh new town fame) designed it 200 years ago this year in 1825.

Like everyone who grew up in the Wirral, I went to Bromborough Odeon for my birthday and was treated to this incredible sky.

It's been a long old day...

I'm thinking of John Prescott's family today, and the contribution he made. This picture is from a crazy day in Bromborough in 2010 when he campaigned in Wirral South. He's got the 1997 pledge card, and is reading it out to show how we kept our promises.

Out on doors in Bebington and Rock Ferry.

One thing that often surprises those who've not done it is that people are...pleased to see us.

Have often been asked whether campaigning is stressful/scary/fractious. And by and large, it is the opposite.

At the truly brilliant Birkenhead Sixth Form College. A huge group taking politics and absolutely no quarter given on the questions.

The college is very ambitious for their students, so please tell me about access programmes or other exciting opportunities for confident and determined students...
