On 11 November 1470, a young Henry Tudor was returned to the care of his uncle, Jasper Tudor.

It was likely at Henley-on-Thames that Henry was formally placed back into Jasper’s care. From there, uncle and nephew journeyed to South Wales.

In the waning years of the Wars of the Roses, a quiet yet significant union took place - Jasper Tudor married Katherine Woodville. Their marriage, traditionally dated 7 November 1485, was a symbol of reconciliation and royal consolidation.

On 5 November 1520, Sir Robert Poyntz of Iron Acton died at about seventy years old - a veteran of Bosworth and a steadfast servant of the Tudor crown.

He was laid to rest in the Poyntz Chapel of St. Mark’s Church, Bristol.

Sir John Perrot, died on 3 November 1592.

He was found guilty of treason & condemned to die. Returned to the Tower to await execution, Perrot succumbed to illness.

But was he the illegitimate son of King Henry VIII?

On 2 November 1470, within the walls of Westminster Abbey, Queen Elizabeth Woodville gave birth to a son - Edward.

He would be known as King Edward V - the boy who was born in sanctuary, destined to become one of the Princes in the Tower.

Amid Westminster Abbey, Henry Tudor was crowned King Henry VII of England on 30 October 1485. Just two months earlier, he had defeated Richard III at Bosworth, ending decades of dynastic conflict.

On 29 October 1586, Parliament assembled under grave and unprecedented circumstances.

They formally ratified the sentence of death, declaring that Mary, Queen of Scots had forfeited her life. It was presented to Elizabeth I in November.

On 25 October 1532, two of England’s most powerful noblemen - Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk, and Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk - were invested as Knights of the Order of San Michel.

Thomas Dacre, 2nd Baron Dacre of Gilsland, died on 24 October 1525.

While patrolling the unruly Anglo-Scottish borders, Dacre suffered a fatal fall from his horse. He was buried at Lanercost Priory.

On October 23, 1642, the first battle of the English Civil War was fought on the fields of Edgehill.

The clash at Edgehill had settled nothing but it had made one thing clear: England was at war with itself.

John Dudley, 2nd Earl of Warwick, died on 21 October 1554.

In October, he was released from the Tower under house arrest and sent to Penshurst. His freedom was brief - within days, John Dudley died suddenly of natural causes.

On 18 October 1529, Cardinal Thomas Wolsey’s long reign at the heart of power came to its bitter end by giving up his Great Seal.

Wolsey could only surrender it into the hands of the Dukes of Norfolk and Suffolk- awaiting a new master.

Frances Brooke, Lady Cobham, died at Cobham Hall on 17 October 1592. Once a Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Elizabeth I, Frances had moved with quiet grace through the splendor and unease of Elizabeth I’s reign.
