How about using the tobacco lawsuit money to pay for Covid shots? Former and current smokers are both on the list of “underlying conditions” that can make Covid a bad bad thing.

Alberta believes boys who want to play sports when they say they’re boys.

Girls have to prove it.

What’s wrong with this picture? Under the guise of protection, the UCP makes sure that girls know their identity lies in their underpants. It sexualizes and belittles them. ENOUGH!!

Reading about Trump’s talks at/with Middle Eastern leaders, I realized that he doesn’t actually use the word “nation” to refer to a people who occupy a land or have a common culture. To him a nation is the things. If you have shiny skyscrapers and pretty planes, you are a successful nation.

Reading Jane Gardam’s The Man in the Wooden Hat (thanks @guygavrielkay.bsky.social for introducing me to Old Filth), and I miss my mother so much. She would have loved it! Like Mapp and Lucia, Mary Wesley’s books, and Elizabeth Jane Howard’s, books I can’t read without her voice in my head.

If you see this, quote it with what you’re reading this weekend!

Rereading Peter Duck by Arthur Ransome (Swallows and Amazons forever!!)
If you see this, quote it with what you're reading this weekend!

I'm finishing up Ships of Air by @marthawells.com . Really enjoying the world-building (and alt-Nazi-punching).

I'm reading an Ellis Peters Brother Cadfael mystery, THE PILGRIM OF HATE.

Canadian archery fan but boycotting US Lancaster Archery? I love Alternative Archery in the UK. Shipping time is often faster and selection is amazing, especially for recurve.

Benefits of age: I remember when we couldn’t get stuff.
Yes I feel the pain of no Amazon. But would I ever have discovered an entire store dedicated to puzzles within driving distance if I hadn’t?

Any Liberals out there vote for a new leader? After the identity requirements, which took about a half hour to navigate : Canada Post- we’re not happy till you’re not happy! How long does it take for an email ballot to arrive? As long as a paper one through the mail??? @liberalca.bsky.social

Boycotts are hard. Thinking back to childhood when no fresh fruit in the winter except wooden boxes of mandarins at Xmas. I hate canned cherries. No Amazon to deliver overnight. No internet to tell me all the unnecessary gadgets I didn’t own. No US TV stations.

Does everyone know that Saturday is Canadian Flag day? All party leaders are encouraging us to show the Canadian flag and let the world know we are nobody’s 51 st state.

We got a flag at Home Depot (in Seasonal), a 7 ft dowel and zip ties. We will stick it in a snow bank.
