Is depression numbing you out? We theorize an interoceptive aspect of depression treatment with DBS - @elisaxu.bsky.social provides the evidence! Read all about it..
Interested to see where this collaboration with GTech takes us next, @crozell.bsky.social. Wearable EEG tracking?
Very excited about this paper! Depression is a disease that affects brain-body interactions. This great work led by our collaborators @elisaxu.bsky.social and @allisonwatersphd.bsky.social shows that cortical signatures of interoception return after DBS (aligned with brain biomarker recovery).

Noon today ->hosted by @stimulatingbrains.org <- Can we optimize deep brain stimulation according to patient-specific patterns of cortical excitability? Stimulation evoked potentials! There’s buzz; is it a phase?

🌟First post over here, which I'm very happy to use to share a new paper in TICS with Angela Radulescu & Kara Emery. 🌟

We review work taking an approach we refer to as "naturalistic reinforcement learning", which uses more naturalistic approaches to study learning and decision-making.
Naturalistic reinforcement learning
Humans possess a remarkable ability to make decisions within real-world environments that are expansive, complex, and multidimensional. Human cognitiv…

Figuring out how to adapt DBS protocols to minimize impact on sleep; maximize sleep-related health benefits. Bravo! Thanks for noting, @amahajanmd.bsky.social.
Sleep spindles, seen in NREM sleep, are involved in memory consolidation.

New study shows a higher spindle density during nights with STN DBS ON vs. OFF. Adds to recent study that showed that 4 Hz DBS improved overnight memory retention.
