BHM 5: I took a Slave Narratives class in college, it was truly life changing. The class primarily focused on the WPA Slave Narratives. “between 1936-38, the WPA Federal Writers' Project (FWP) sent out-of-work writers in 17 states to interview ordinary people to write down their life stories.”

BHM Fact 4: While Rosa Parks became the famous face of this Civil Rights Protest in action, nine months prior, 15 year old Claudette Colvin was arrested in Montgomery, AL for refusing to give her seat up to a white woman on a segregated bus. She was later instrumental in the SC case Browder vs Gale.

Black History (re: American history) was made again TODAY! When Queen Bey won Best Country Album at the Grammy’s, making her the first Black artist to do so. And, bonus full-circle moment: she was given the award by Taylor Alison Swift. About time we get some joy outta 2025!
