I'm so tired of @chronicle.com's AI cheerleading. When you quote someone who suggests grading is "administrative work" good for automation, recognize this as a discursive move to make space for more AI & not actually true. Have the grace to push back, rather than let them have the last word

I'm sure the tech helps last-minute adjuncts, but there are other ways to solve that prob! In my 2024 book The Last Human Job, I point out how AI hype sells it to us, as "better than nothing," as "freeing us up" for more meaningful work, etc. Arm yourselves against this discourse

The Chronicle had a piece on AI in Higher Ed, and it's like one more piece of propaganda, as the reporter discovers "benefits" for profs/students. Even more frustrating: the tag line says "Technology is...changing the human relationships at the core of higher education," but we don't hear how. Argh
