As promised: the other pre-vis BG Paint I did early on for Haunted Hote!! 🎃 I'm guesssssing this BG design was by Robbie Erwin as well, but please correct me if it was someone else! 🤔

Taking another short break from Carol to share a bit of freelance pre-vis BG Paint I did early on for Haunted Hotel - here's the first, and I'll share the other I did next week! 👻

Cityscape photo study - absolutely loved the contrast and texture!

Unexpectedly rainy morning in LA today - here's a #ThrowbackThursday to some stylized clouds!

This painting wasn't actually in the show - if I recall correctly, we had to redo it to accommodate a different, less static kind of shot with more parallaxing, which I believe Aiden Freeman painted. (2/3)

More Carol and the End of the World paintings from episode 1 - this is one of the first paintings of the end of Eric and Carol's date at Eric's "favourite spot in the whole city," the reservoir (well, more specifically, the hill overlooking the reservoir). (1/3)

#ThrowbackThursday to the first painting I ever did of my OCs - this one's still one of my favourites! You can catch the process video here: youtu.be/Mifolgo0h5I

Hey all, thanks so much for your patience over the last few weeks while I was recovering from covid - 2025 just hasn't been my year, ha ha! 😅

#ThrowbackThursday to some windows, fire escapes, and shadows... but make them italic!

Couldn't decide whether to include the cat or not - what do you think? 🤔

Lastly, these're just a couple of wheat assets to make Carol's walk through the cornfield at the beginning of the same episode look a bit better (designed and coloured by me).

This is a colour design from one of the flashbacks from Elena's tape in episode 4 (design by: Kosta Gregory) - we tried to "add more world-building" by making the beer more specific to where she was in her travels at the time (Spain).

This is a shot from what we internally called the "Bergman sequence" at the beginning of episode 5 (responsible for colour only, design by @nooree.bsky.social; however I believe our colour design lead, Kali Ciesemier was primarily responsible for the rest of the colour design of this sequence -

Still, I really enjoyed coming up with little stories for each of them in my head as I coloured them, & even if they're only on screen for a bit, I like to think it gives our show a kind of soul that you feel while watching it (responsible for colour only - designs by @nooree.bsky.social)
July 11, 2025 at 1:53 AM
Believe it or not, this was actually my first formal experience colour designing, so it was definitely a bit of a "learn by doing" situation (responsible for colour only - designs by @nooree.bsky.social and @jnoel150.bsky.social ) -

The tech was awesome, but in order to "add more world-building," we ended up just redesigning a lot of them from scratch for an even more bespoke end-product (responsible for colour only - designs by Cole Ott)

In addition to leadership skills, art directing often also involves wearing a lot of hats and tying up loose ends, especially as designers roll off and you move into post/retakes.

Hope you all enjoyed the little Spellbound intermission from my Carol and the End of the World work - today I'm back with a megathread of all the colour design work I did while art directing! 🧵

#ThrowbackThursday to a pastel sunset inspired by a photo from @mewsoul.bsky.social who takes some absolutely stunning photos around Japan - drop him a follow and catch the process video here: youtu.be/k6lvbqd0-L4

Happy Juneteenth! Here's a #ThrowbackThursday to a painting of the Sallie Tiernan Field House at my alma mater Scripps College. Recently I did a day-trip out to Claremont to show my friends around my old stomping grounds - it was so pleasant and nostalgic!

Crop of a larger study I didn't end up finishing - would anyone still be interested in the process video? 😅😛 Was trying to incorporate a bit more line into my work to, well... I'll let you be the judge of my success with that, ha ha 🤔😂 Inspired by Greg Girard's sick photography - thanks for looking!
