In 1935, Daniel Sampson was executed by hanging after an investigation and trial that were a racist farce with cops lying, faking documents. His gr-gr-grandson is now seeking justice on behalf of the family and the Black Nova Scotian community. But they need our help: fundrazr.com/danielpsampson

@mark-carney.bsky.social You cannot refute it: Israel is starving Gaza to death. Why will you not ACT? We cannot call ourselves proud Canadians while standing by watching children die by the thousands. ACT for god's sake.

Smithsonian and other institutions should "reverse plunder" their collections: hide them, send them out, to protect them from revisionist Nazis, cataloged so they can be reassembled after these greedy morons have their faces melted off. RESIST.

Sam Walton & Reverend Daniel 'Woody' Woodhouse: In 2017, we did exactly what #PalestineAction did last week Our actions were extremely similar to theirs, and so were our aims.

In 2017, we broke into a BAE Systems airfield to stop jets from going to bomb Yemen, write Sam Walton and Daniel Woodhouse. Our lenient treatment exposes the Palestine Action ban for what it is: racis...

"Legit" media is partly to blame for the loss of America because "real" properly researched, fact-based news was paywalled (for the sake of PROFIT), whereas the fake shit was handed out everywhere for free. Good on Wired for recognizing that democracy dies behind a paywall.

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

I read that thing about Tramp being recruited as a Russian asset in the 80s and maybe that's not true but who cares, he's DEFINITELY one now.

'Member that time Trump withheld military aid to Ukraine to pressure Zelenskyy into investigating Biden's son and Zelenskyy said no and it all got out and he was impeached for trying to get a foreign state to interfere in a US election? So long ago. He's still holding a grudge I expect/

The main reason why PP & the right in Canada want to cancel CBC: without a prominent public bcaster, we are left with (reasonably) legit news behind a paywall, or free crazy. CPC trying to clear the lane for the misinformation highway. #neverpoilievre
Trump rode to political prominence on birtherism and spent the last month of his campaign claiming that Haitians were eating cats.

The rise of authoritarianism in America *must* be understood as a misinformation crisis.
There's also seemingly no acknowledgement of a massive right-wing propaganda machine stirring this sentiment up. Where it does exist it's largely a manufactured, tribal outrage, it's not actually regular people getting so offended they go fash over this stuff. That's important.

These young men weren't selected to become Elon Musk's brownshirts because they are intelligent, but because they are malleable, impressionable, and insecure. They are child soldiers, easy to control. This is SOP in any culture that holds powering over others as a virtue.

Blue Velvet was sort of a turning point for me. When it came out, I was a young leftie punk with a "tough chick" façade, but I was troubled by its eroticization of brutality against women. I rejected it, to the universal scorn of my peers. 1/2
