No matter what you're working on, it's important to remember that the project is the purpose. And when you're feeling stuck, take your goal and make it smaller. You've got this! Onward, friends. New post: www.allisonmcwilliams.com/post/onward-...

Don't forget friends, tonight we (well some of us) spring forward. And that means it's time to change those smoke alarm batteries! Less than 2 minutes to save your life!

What an absolute powerhouse of a tiny (114 small pages) book. It's about the choices ordinary people make when faced with gross injustice, when staying quiet is easier, smarter, and safer, but standing up is right. Can't think of a better reminder right now.

Snowed all day yesterday. Snowed all morning today. Has yet to get above freezing. My front yard as of 2 pm. THE PERFECT SNOW.

During this exhausting, demoralizing, stressful time, don't forget: you deserve rest. And they depend on you not knowing that. New post: allisonmcwilliams.com/post/you-yes-you-deserve-rest

Just an FYI if you have a Microsoft subscription and got notified your $ is going up, that's because they've auto-enrolled you into a package with their AI. You can go into your account settings and opt out which will put that cost back to what it was (plus get Microsoft's AI out of your business.).

Between hiring freezes and layoffs, it's tough out there right now. If that's you, don't forget to make your people - mentors, wise counselors, former colleagues, friends - part of your process. New post via Psychology Today www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/your...
Facing a Layoff? It’s Time to Put Your Network to Work
Upwards of 80% of all jobs are never posted on job sites. If you’re in need of a new role, you need more than a solid resume. You need people.

Finished (started?) Step One of the tax organizing process. Already missing a critical doc. Pretty sure I willfully threw it away. Sigh. #AndSoItBegins

In 2025, let's all aim to have the resilience and determination of this blob in my yard from a less than 2 inch snow 2 weeks ago. #NeverGiveUp

The good news, and I think we all can agree with this, is we didn't end up with the old guy. Really dodged a bullet on that one. I'm sure George Clooney is going to write an op-ed about it just as soon as he gets back from his house in Italy.

Yesterday in a #manager mentoring group I'm leading someone said, "I'm responsible for everything and I'm responsible for nothing and sometimes I wander around wondering what I'm supposed to be doing." Never heard a better definition for management, TBH.

No power outage. Easy shoveling. 40 degrees. Honestly, perfect snow. 10/10 no notes.

I recently had the chance to share some thoughts on careers and work on the Wake Women podcast; hope you'll take a listen! It's about mentorship, finding "meaning" and "purpose" through work, building community, asking for feedback, and more: wakewomen.alumni.wfu.edu/wake-women-p...

WIP sent to betas for feedback. So excited (to not read this draft again for a bit)!

So 4 truly despicable teams in the finals. Great. Thrilled not to watch any of them.

Say what you will about the problems with this UGA team, and there are many, Stockton isn't one of them. Way to rise to the moment.

I'm not a resolution person, but I love the process of reflection and resetting. There’s something magical in realizing that just by taking a pause and looking backward, we have so much to teach ourselves. What will you choose for 2025? New Post:

Sometimes you absolutely should meet your idols. Today I got to chat with Judy Blume about books, and bookstores (including our own Bookmarks), Key West and NYC, and tell her thank you, and it was the BEST. Also she is lovely.

Earlier I was thinking, maybe I SHOULD be someone who winters in Key West. Then, tonight, two different dudes killed two giant roaches on the bar where I was sitting WITH THEIR HANDS and no, I shan't.

I finally read this masterpiece over the holiday and honestly I may never recover. I am forever changed, forever in awe. Give it all the awards. "With my pencil I wrote myself into being. I wrote myself to here."

These games are awfully punchy today. It's rivalry week, not beat the crap out of each other week, boys.

Shoutout to UGA for letting me go to bed at a reasonable time. Freaking Dogs. Same as it ever was.
