media attention and further investor interest. We can draw similarities between the beginnings of this projects with Forest City. Both of these projects are notable in attracting awards for their renderings and sustainable approaches. In the end, residents will not benefit from powerpoint awards.

Clark Green City project is also attempting to leverage international design awards in order render the project legitimate amidst some doubt around the goals of this new city. The city got the AECOM design award early on in the development process, which managers have leveraged in order to attract..

thought out. It seems like it is more a symbol that the government is looking forward towards a conflict-free society and a transition towards urban modernity. However, an article full of buzzwords and no real plan doesn't exactly help anyone.

This article published by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, interestingly does not name any funding sources for this project. The ministry does state that they are hoping to secure funding through favorable tax policies and simplified regulations. This plan seems to not be completely...

This also shows new city projects are used as means to achieve geopolitical ends. The agreements that ACUD fostered with the Malagasy government was shared in the media as a partnership between countries showcasing diplomatic ties. I wonder if it's really important to actually build this new city.

The new capital city of Madagascar will be developed in partnership with Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD), the company that was created to develop Egypt's new capital. Though Egypt's new capital is not yet finished, ACUD is already exporting their designs to other countries.

pollution that construction activities will cause. Additionally, there does not seem to be many plans of how to attract new industries in order to create a new economic hub as the project managers hope. This city meant to relieve congestion seems like its going to be a waste of money and concrete.
November 5, 2025 at 6:55 PM
This city is yet another example of officials' 'fear of congestion.' Jakarta has been ruled too congested, too unruly for the government to function within it, therefore a new city is needed. Though this city is supposed to be sustainable and eco friendly, the project managers say nothing of the...

Brown had gotten close before, nearly signing a deal with an undisclosed government entity, but the deal was upended by a report published by the New York Times. Since then, Praxis has only existed on powerpoints but is still prime to be the next "Eternal City" ready for development.

Praxis is an AI new city project that is supposed to run on crypto funding has secured investment from various companies. However, this city does not yet have a location. One of the founders behind Praxis, Dryden Brown, is attempting to sell his new city idea to national governments to secure land.

innovations, this city is planning to use older methods to attain urban sustainability. One example of such is the plan to build many shades and screens over sidewalks and outdoor public spaces to help with cooling instead of relying on copious amounts of air conditioning and indoor facilities.

This new master planned city situated west of the capital, Muscat, is part of urban trends across the Middle East to use new city projects to diversify away from oil. However, there is a key difference in how this city is being marketed. Instead of touting new "smart" technologies and the latest...

are not big enough to support the entire population, much less be considered affordable. There's a conflict here, as it's not ethical to force people to relocate, but it also isn't ethical to leave people behind. These cities do not serve to solve this dilemma, as they are inherently exclusionary.

Although these floating cities as responses to climate change may seem benign, there is a major ethical issue with these types of projects. The Maldives may cease to exist at the end of the century, therefore the entire population would need to relocate. This project, along with others like it, ...

via walking? If anything, this design necessitates cars. Additionally, this design creates inherent exclusion for those who have trouble walking far distances or those who cannot walk at all. This design is not inclusive, nor is it realistic for achieving project goals.
November 5, 2025 at 4:06 PM
Something I'm having a hard time understanding is how this city is supposed to be walkable when it is organized into 'clusters.' If all of the housing is concentrated in one area, while shopping and offices are concentrated in another area across the city, how are these supposed to be accessible...

Additionally, this project also shows how these projects that are meant to house the most important institutions for the management of the state are rather flavorless and stark. Because of private sector involvement, these important institutions loose their individuality.
