Carrying a @wmata.com umbrella turns out to be the fastest way to meet other good-natured transit fans. Not one but two strangers stopped me on the street today to ask where they can get a Metro umbrella and to talk about trains.

So glad @ggwash.org got to be part of the screening of Fault Lines this evening. Thank you to the directors for joining us & making this film, the orgs who came together to make the screening happen, @jerusalem.bsky.social for your insights, and @justupthepike.bsky.social for great moderation!

When McLean Gardens was built, the public housing complex was *only* available to DC transplants.

Within four months, feds realized that if they didn't instead make the apartments available to people who worked nearby, they'd create a commute nightmare.

I’m at the @ggwash.org @smartgrowthusa.bsky.social Transit Equity teach-in and already learning things: Peter Stephan from the DC Office of Disability Rights shared that a recent study found that 54% of DC’s sidewalks are not ADA accessible. 54%!

I had the good fortune to spend today in Philly with GGWash staff & board and other friends from across the East Coast for the @welcomingneighbors.us Northeast Regional Gathering. Grateful to all who organized — great day with pro-housing rockstars. (My first-ever SEPTA experience was A+, too!)

Any day that I get to take a train is a good day, but this pre-dawn journey is made all the better thanks to the shiny new waiting area at Union Station in a former retail storefront. Presumably, this is one of many changes resulting from Amtrak’s recent takeover of commercial space management.
