I see this all the time with neutron activation analysis, sodium and aluminum are everywhere and love washing everything out after irradiation

You’re also going to mess up the panels ability to radiate heat that’s absorbed from the sun as well as you now have two components which age a different rates. The batteries will likely reach end of life before the panels are worn out.

Hastelloy is a high temperature and corrosion resistant nickel alloy. You find it in reactors (particularly fast reactors) but it’s different than HY80 which is only a few % Ni and more just about yield strength (high yield - 80)
