Just read this lovely little article on seed preservation ex-situ (aka in "seed prisons") vs in vivo (or "conservation as a way of life"). Because why die with a freezer full of seeds? Inspiration before heading into the garden to plant my dry beans...

Listening to my friend and former colleague Laurie Wissler Nowatzke share her story on WPR as a fired federal employee and the good work that comes out of the Midwest Climate Hub (at least, for now). You can catch her again at 7:20pm tonight!

Can confirm I have colleagues whose funding is being frozen (can't confirm what agencies are doing it).
I think it's worth repeating plainly that a federal judge halted Musk's federal funding freeze nearly two weeks ago but funds are still very much being frozen in violation of the court order.

Now seems like a good time to remind folks...if you have a library card, you probably have access to news subscriptions! @madisonlibrary.bsky.social provides access to national news (NYT, WaPo) and local news (Cap Times, WI State Journal). And if you don't have a card - get one!

I'm a strong believer that we can make a better world for each other by developing these skills in ourselves.
The one thing I advise folks to do who manage folks with trauma (sooner or later, that may be everyone we know in our movements), it is to learn emotional regulation skills. These can be breathing exercises, contemplative practices, SRT, Nature immersion, physical exercise, etc etc.
