Bethesda’s big joke was making us think Burning Springs was available to play today.

Scientists, though very competent at their jobs, are still humans capable of being quirky or weird or incompetent at other aspects of life. The show demonstrates this, as do the books. The writers bounced the ideas off Wells and were met with approval. The pillow sniffing was a little weird though.

One could argue that forgiving someone for abuse and another for attempting to murder him solely on the basis of them being family is a red flag.

He states that he’s never been in a relationship before when talking to Emmerich, and his writer says he’s demisexual. Nowhere have I seen it stated that he’s a virgin (except in non canon fan fiction). So… I would say it’s up to your interpretation.
