a temporary fix if you don't want to spend a lot of money would be to get 3,5 mm extender cable that goes into the Aux Jack on your tv and the other end is for your headphones. I invested in some as a teen when I wanted to be sneaky and play on my ps3 during the night without waking my parents lol

My sister place one of those taller glasses/coffe mugs with water on the floor which her cat (who had a cone at the time) was able to drink out of. Maybe that is something you could try to see if they can drink out of? (Would suggest placing something under the cup in case of spillage)
