We all start somewhere, and as a first make, I think it's a good start. I suggest using it once completed to get a sense of how it feels, pours, and fits the purpose of use. Looking forward to seeing it glazed.

Weighing the clay is the best start. Similarity is the biggest factor in making "sets", so if I need 4 I make 8 and choose the closest 4. Otherwise I make a series and try to remain consistent on key indicators and have the customer(s) pick out the ones they want. A good start, though.

Perhaps a tinted slurry instead of straight underglaze would work better on leather hard? Scrape off with a metal rib once the slurry sets?

Well that quite simply is terrible news, isn't it??

Have used b-mix before, once. It was for a comparison with another white clay body for the studio at the local college. I liked it, it threw nicely. The other one felt more like putty to me. 413 maybe?? I forget. We decided to not use it and went with the b-mix.
