Interesting. Having planted a lot of trees but also allowed for natural regeneration by ceasing grazing & hedge cutting, we’re observing that the latter are (unsurprisingly) healthier & growing faster.

I agree! Devolution to another level of govt could just be frying pan ➡️ fire

I have a list of things I think DCMS should be getting along with that would result in tangible benefits to the sector, instead of trying to micro manage ACE which benefits precisely none of us. If anyone wants it so they can include it in their own response, let me know! #artscouncilengland

All the issues with ACE are the product of LACK - the sector is profoundly struggling. Do not, in your frustration, defenestrate ACE and assume something better is going to come along.

Once you don’t have an arms length body working with the sector, you’re subject to the vagaries (and I mean VAGARIES) of the government of the day. I was at DCMS during the Boris era and be very sure - without ACE, the Kennedy Centre saga is not so unimaginable here.

There is a great evidence base on the risks posed to social cohesion by inequality here, from the Fairness Foundation.

Gawd this is my local newspaper. Have they picked up on this thread?!

I absolutely did not find it, let me know if you do! I also finally downloaded the white paper. What key words did you go for because other than a slightly better grip on the myriad different types of authorities I came away with… not much.
