Many see AV-as-a-Service as a “easy button “ that allows users to quickly migrate operational problems if they were to occur.

Reoccurring revenue streams allow companies to staff support operations that prevent and mitigate operational difficulties.

That is disappointing, that show used to be where the real innovations were announced.

Did see an article about IPMX advancing as part of the show.

The silos still exist making the interoperability between manufacturers a little bit difficult when there is a problem.

The circular finger pointing does nothing to solve problems, yet it is the most common to address problems between “approved” manufacturers.

Broadcast television has embraced remote workflow and cloud based streaming technologies.

Bonded cellular networks have made this possible for remote content acquisition.

It’s going to take a while for this technology to become more popular in AV / corporate production environments.

It’s nice to see more broadcast standards in AV like it used to be.

We have gone the wrong direction with following the non standard based consumer electronics industry.

For smaller spaces yes they should be plug and play, however for larger facilities needs a traditional AV design approach with a mixture of select UC devices is still appropriate.

As the old timers used to say “good audio without video is radio, but video without good audio is essentially being off air.”

A mixture of both are essential for allowing people access to information and growth opportunities.

NAB and InfoComm are large shows, and have their place.

Having smaller shows like NAB NYC and Rep shows alllows for more interaction and learning.

My first NAB was in 1995, and saw the first glimpse of ATSC broadcast of HDTV shown by NHK.

Used to be the place to align your crystal ball, as the show attracted leading / bleeding edge technologies.

Your quote “The commoditization of endpoint hardware, where the importance lies less in who makes the devices and more in the firmware powering them.”

Is so true, yet manufacturers have taken the wrong (Microsoft like ) approach to firmware.

That my friend is a loaded question.
