I wish all of today’s shop fronts would limit the size of their signage like these. The size of the sign is inversely proportional to the quality of the shop. O level maths I think.

I think it’s that in UK, Gas price per kWh is £0.06 and electricity is £0.28. You can argue efficiency, but the price matters.

UK coal fired power stations are all now closed. Nil production by coal since 2024.

US oil refineries are historically set up to refine heavy crude, so this is perfect for them. US is producing more light crude recently, which it has to export to refineries abroad.

Exactly. He was paying minimal tax anyway as he had non-dom status. There is no loss to the country.

I think that was what was said, but it appears to be of no consequence, as my local Lidl in Glasgow is doing the recycling off its own back. Get a few pence back for each item recycled. The council doesn’t collect glass from blocks of flats and tenements, it’d be good if glass was accepted too.

Is there a story behind why this bit of Sauchiehall St is painted? Not sure, but I can’t imagine they were originally like this.

I was just looking online at old Planning Applications and one for St George’s Studios (new satellite dishes) was rejected, in part, as the property was in a conservation area. Surely demolition would be way more controversial than roof top satellite dishes and should be similarly rejected?

New builds have no VAT. A refurbishment attracts VAT. Hence they want to knock it all down. It’s criminally perverted tax rules.

Managed a trip on the Waverley whilst she was on a tour to London. Steamed under a raised Tower Bridge and out to Essex / Kent and back. Great day out.

Surely they can’t do that?

Look up “Comprehensive Development Areas” I don’t think structural integrity was a factor. I think it was later shown that the tenements could/should have been saved and modernised where required.

I wish that New City Road and Great Western Road could be rejoined to help restore the vista to right of the gushet.
