Have you read Ina May's book? Did it influence you or your practice at all?
April 17, 2025 at 5:18 AM
The book was radical in its time, being an exploration, primer and guidebook for practitioners that focused on out-of-hospital, holistic and spiritual birthing care, driven by a message of love.

In this article, three midwives discuss the impact and messages of the book, and its relevance today.

Have you ever heard of Ina May Gaskin or read Spiritual Midwifery?

We featured the book in the latest issue of TPM. For many midwives, Ina May Gaskin’s classic Work, Spiritual Midwifery, offered an insight into ways of knowing & practising outside of the boundaries of medicalised maternity care.
