Rock trivia: I was the original drummer for Kars4Kids.
This buck has been guarding his girlfriend here for two days in wind and rain- she’s behind the shrubs.

I’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day
And when it’s cold outside I’ve got the month of May

Yay. I didn’t kill them after all. These are now hung in my pantry and should keep for months if I can wait that long to make sauce.

“The world was full of hopes to be realized. Lifelong dreams coming true.” From Bear by Julia Phillips
A beautiful and haunting fairytale.

I was late in discovering this one from 1996, Coming Through Slaughter by Michael Ondaatje. Part novel, part true history, part poetry.

Update, these seedlings became gorgeous ripe Piennolo tomatoes and are destined for tomato sauce. The longer you keep Piennolos in the pantry the richer they become.

Dog days. It’s oppressively hot and humid. Everything is hot, the bricks of the house, the metal porch furniture and the water from the hose. Sidewalks could scorch your skin. Fetch is out of the question. One must move slowly and try not to think about things in order to stay cool.

The table was beautifully set for four, the meal was a deconstructed salad consisting of two whole tomatoes and a handful of olives.

When you read a book and the thoughts and the words used to describe them are so beautiful that it makes you cry, that’s what this is.

Three bird nests, 1 is a mourning dove’s, 2 is a house finch’s, and 3 is a robin’s nest. All babies recently hatched and are doing well.

I must show these off before I eventually kill them by overwatering. My Piennolo tomato seeds have sprouted.

From the Cornell lab of ornithology, it’s called Merlin Bird. It’s free and safe to use. It will ask you for your location which helps it narrow down the likelihood of what birds you’re encountering.

I got a free app that identifies birds by sound and image and can even identify several birds at once. A Twitter substitute.

When manufacturers have no regulations to follow they push to the limit to make profits. They called my city, Hell with the lid off. It took decades to clean up the water, land and air. Why would we go backwards?
