The Return of Minky, the Learning Monkey. New friends and followers may not be aware of the Adventures of Minky the Learning Monkey. Well, now he's back with a massive 🍉, most concerned about all the tensions in the world and telling us all to 'Kalm the Fudge Dahn'.

Reminder:
The founding fathers were the colonists, undocumented immigrants, occupiers, and slave owners.

The USA revolted against Lord North's government of a nation with a constitutional monarch (Geo III) with the help of an Absolute monarch (Louis XVI), to create, in effect, an elected 'monarchy'

... The notion of "third spaces" in hospitals for trans people ignores the different status of transwomen and transmen.

The EHRC also assumes (incorrectly) that "biological sex" is based on visual observation at birth, rather than complex genetic biology. The ruling doesn't specify.

Reading a post about Windy Miller getting drunk on cider, made me glad I'm from the Trumpton/Chigley/Camberwell Green era, and not brought up on the Tweenies.

Also realised that I had a thing for Windy Miller, Cpt Flack of the fire station and Cpt Snort of Pippin Fort.

Paired Images of the Day:
Swedish folklore "Agneta and the Sea-King", and an Annunciation Icon (Greek Orthodox). These are side by side on our dining room wall. Both are stories of a pregnant woman visited by messenger of a deity, and told she was highly favoured.

Happy Greek Independence Day (25 Mar 1821).

Image: Greek flag flies at a hermitage in Zia infront of Mt Dhikheos, Kos - which had remained under Italian (& briefly German then British) control til 1945. Kos' union with the rest of Greece took place 124 years after the initial Greek-Ottoman War.

RIP Maisie Trollette/David Raven, who was still performing at 91. I was fortunate to meet David as David and as Maisie, and had a drink or three at the Amsterdam in Brighton. [My partner, now husband, was at the World Methodist Conference at the BIC, and I was having a pint with a legend.]

I've revised again the #AshWednesday Sentences to focus #Lent on affirmation and liberation, starting by replacing the words 'but dust' with 'Stardust'.

"You are stardust: conceived from the heart of God, and to which you will return. Receive grace; Let go of life's baggage; Love as Jesus did"

Clean Monday: I love the fact that Orthodox Lent begins with kite flying, rather than ashing. A "lifted high on a divine wind" kind of repentance, and invitation to choose life.

"Be joyful, keep the faith, and do the little things that you have heard and seen me do"

Last words of St David (Dewi Sant).

When things seem tough, doing the little things can be more than enough.

Holding Paradox: Saint of the Day (1 February) Brigid of Kildare.

At the start of LGBT History Month, it has become apparent that inclusion and equity are not guaranteed. Learn the history of why and how our rights had to be fought for, and realise that the struggle isn't over. Many people support equal rights only when it suits them, personally.
