The Ohio Senate has chosen to provide 66% of what low poverty districts need, while wildly underfunding — and in some cases cutting funding from — districts that have higher numbers of kids who live in poverty.

The Ohio legislature wants to give $600,000,000 to help a billionaire build a new sports stadium.

And *checks notes* $50 to your public school kid.

Under the current budget proposal more than half of Ohio public school districts will ONLY get an increase of $50/student over the biennium.

Ohio school districts deserve nothing less than for our legislature to fully and fairly fund the Fair School Funding Plan.

Over the next biennium, Cleveland Municipal SD gets a $6M cut under the current proposed budget.

Instead of cuts, the FSFP would provide $155M in additional, needed funding.

Over the next biennium, Cincinnati Public SD gets a $32M cut under the current proposed budget.

Instead of cuts, the FSFP would provide $40M in additional, needed funding.

Ohio HB 106: the Pay Stub Protection Act just passed the Senate and goes to the Governor's desk for signature! Ohio *was* one of only 7 states that don't offer this protection to workers.

Proud to have worked on this one with @policymattersohio.bsky.social and the Central Ohio Worker Center. 💜💚💙

If the goal is to improve conditions for Ohio workers, there are clear ways to do that, from protecting workers’ rights to investing in infrastructure or the care economy. Deporting immigrants doesn’t help Ohio workers, in fact it just shoots overall economic growth in the foot.

This is 💯 coming in Ohio. Legislators here have been systematically changing our state tax code to benefit corporations & the wealthiest for 20 years.

They don’t pass things that would help working families: like a state child tax credit, property tax circuit breaker, or expanding the EITC.

If an Ohio parent 🙋🏻‍♀️

working full time 👩🏻‍🍳

has 1 infant and 1 toddler 👶🏻👧🏻

at an average cost childcare center 🏢

then ‼️$10.52‼️ of every hour they work goes to childcare costs.

Yet Ohio has is DEAD LAST as far as state eligibility thresholds for child care assistance.

Child care is simply not affordable for many Ohio families. $10.52 an hour is higher than the minimum wage!
